FOR THE FIRST TIME THE RUSSIAN SEASONS PROJECT WAS HELD IN JAPAN

The grand opening of the Russian Seasons in Japan took place in June 2017 on the stage of the largest performing arts center – Tokyo Bunka Kaikan. This was the performance of the legendary production of “Giselle” by the ballet company of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia. The event was accompanied by the opening of a photo exhibition dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the first Bolshoi Ballet tour to Japan.

The participation of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Olga Golodets and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe in the opening ceremony emphasized the high level of the event.

On December 10, 2017, the closing ceremony of the “Russian Seasons” project in Japan was held at the Suntory Hall concert hall in Tokyo followed by a concert of the Mariinsky orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev and the outstanding pianist Denis Matsuev.

The geography of the Russian Seasons events in Japan in 2017 included over 40 cities, and the list of participants from the Russian side featured more than 20 cultural institutions.
