In preparation for the 200th anniversary of Leo Tolstoy’s birth (to be held in 2028), the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation announces the first All-Russian Competition for staging theatre productions based on the author’s works. The competition is operated by the Autonomous Nonprofit Organization “Russian Seasons.”

The competition’s priority areas include: the development of theatrical art, the popularization and dissemination of Leo Tolstoy’s literary legacy, the preservation and promotion of traditional spiritual and moral values, and the attraction of a wide audience, including family audiences.
The competition aims to support the creation of new productions by professional theater companies and theatrical entertainment organizations under the jurisdiction of state authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation or local governments, which create, perform, preserve and propagate works of dramatic, musical, dramatic, operatic, and choreographic art.
Applications will be accepted until 15 May 2026.
