Valery Gergiev will give a concert at the closing of the Russian seasons in Uzbekistan

On 14 December, the closing ceremony of the international Russian Seasons  project will take place at the Palace of International Forums Uzbekistan. In 2023 the project was for the first time held in Uzbekistan with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The closing ceremony will feature the Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra conducted by People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Valery Gergiev and some of the laureates of the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition.

As part of the concert at the closing ceremony, works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Rodion Shchedrin, Georges Bizet and other famous composers, whose operas and concerts are included in the golden fund of the world repertoire, will be performed.

The program of the concert will include the aria of Prince Yeletsky (I love you…) from the The Queen of Spades by Tchaikovsky, Figaro’s cavatina (Largo al factotum) from Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini, Marfa’s fortune telling scene from Khovanshchina by Mussorgsky, Mon coeur s’ouvre à ta voix from Samson et Dalila by Saint-Saëns. Among the instrumental works – Fantaisie brillante sur Carmen for flute and strings by Borne – Bizet, Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra by Rodion Shchedrin, and works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky – Concerto for Violin and Orchestra and Piano Concerto No 1.

Soloists — laureates of the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition Zinaida Tsarenko (1st prize and Grand Prix, mezzo-soprano), Sofia Wieland (1st prize, flute), Sergey Davydchenko, 1st prize (piano), Maxim Lisiin (2nd prize, baritone) and Ravil Islyamov (II prize, violin).

To reiterate, Russian Seasons i n Uzbekistan opened in May 2023 with the performance 12 the theater production of Nikita Mikhalkov Center of Theater and Cinema. Subsequently, 39 events were held in different cities of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including: the exhibition of the Russian National Museum of Music Rachmaninov and Chaliapin. Parallels and Intersections, master classes by teachers from GITIS and VGIK, concert by Honored Artist of Russia, laureate of international competitions Ildar Abdrazakov (bass), tours of the Obraztsov State Academic Central Puppet Theatre and the Russian State Theater Satyricon named after Arkady Raikin, lectures and cartoons screenings by the Soyuzmultfilm Studio, concerts by the People’s Artist of Russia and the Republic of Abkhazia Hibla Gerzmava, the Gnessin Ensemble of Contemporary Choral Music Altro coro, the Moscow Soloists Chamber Ensemble conducted by the People’s Artist of the USSR Yuri Bashmet and other events.
