On the very first day of the Russian Seasons the exhibition Planet Tchaikovsky was opened in the foyer of the Astana Opera Theater.
The exhibition was prepared by the Russian National Museum of Music in collaboration with the P.I. Tchaikovsky State Memorial Musical Museum-Reserve. The exhibition reveals the main milestones in the creative path of the great composer. Among the exhibits – photographs of Tchaikovsky’s relatives and friends, his classmates at the School of Law, as well as photo portraits of outstanding musicians – the composer’s contemporaries – who performed his works. Copies of pictures and photographs of buildings and places, which Tchaikovsky visited, help to form the vision of the special atmosphere that surrounded him. Rare archival documents reveal new facets of the composer’s dialogue with his contemporaries. Printed editions of the works by P.I. Tchaikovsky witnessed the high level of domestic music publishing at the end of the 19th century, and the pages of the composer’s manuscripts allow us to understand the way Tchaikovsky recorded his music.
