The Tchaikovsky Gala opened the program of Russian Seasons in Astana
On 2 March, on the stage of the Astana Opera Theater, the grand opening of the large-scale festival of Russian art and culture Russian Seasons took place.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova and the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Oralov. According to established tradition, the host party was presented with the symbol of the Russian Seasons project – the Firebird – a character from Russian folk tales, personifying light, warmth, rebirth and good luck.
Among the participants of the Tchaikovsky Gala were the All-Russian Youth Orchestra under the direction of People’s Artist of the USSR, Ambassador of the Russian Seasons Yuri Bashmet, and soloists – winner of international competitions, soloist of the All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra Valeria Abramova (violin), winner of international competitions Vasily Stepanov (cello), winner of international competitions, soloist of the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic Philipp Kopachevsky (piano), soloist of the Astana Opera Theater Arthur Gabdiev (tenor).
The concert program featured works by the great Russian composer, including Variations on a Rococo Theme for cello and orchestra, Concerto No. 1 for piano and orchestra, Russian Dance from The Swan Lake, arias and scenes from Eugene Onegin and the Fantasy Overture Romeo and Juliet.
